The Mission of Hands of Christ is to bring Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) congregations together to meet the basic needs of children as they begin each school year, showing them Christ’s love by providing clothing and school supplies. The 2017 distribution Season served 5,256 children in three weeks with clothing and school supplies. Summerville has become an active distribution site and helped serve 413 children; 189 families. Summerville’s focus in Dorchester County is Kindergarten through 5th grade.
Undie Sunday: Sunday, March 18th, has been designated as Undie Sunday by the Service Ministry Team in order to collect new underwear (bottoms only – children’s sizes 4-18) for children in Pre K through 5th grade. Your donations will be used by Hands of Christ to supply children in the surrounding area with new underwear when the school year begins in August. There will be a brightly colored tub in each vestibule and one in Lanneau Hall for your donations. Be sure to look for the Hands of Christ sign on the tubs. If you are unable to participate in the collection on March 18th, feel free to come by the church office at any time with your donations between now and August. There is a HOC tub in the closet for your items. The Service Ministry Team has also designated Sunday, April 22nd, as Sock Drop Sunday (low cut socks are preferred – children’s sizes small to x-large). This will be another opportunity for you to become involved with Hands of Christ. If at any time you have questions about Hands of Christ, please feel free to contact Pam Cromer, Mary Bowers or the church office at 843-871-0280. Thank you!
